Protests over George Floyd's death continue across the US for a 12th day
Massive Protests have erupted in hundreds of US cities after George Floyd, an unarmed black man who died while being arrested and pinned to the ground by the knee of a police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The George Floyd protests, which have been launched throughout the country, continue on its 12th day with the participation of tens of thousands despite all the effort of the US government to quell the nationwide demonstrations.
The protesters are calling for an end to racism and police brutality, which kills hundreds of people in the United States every year.
Donald Trump demanded 10,000 troops be deployed to quell protests
According to the sources near White House, the U.S. President Donald Trump demanded that 10,000 soldiers be deployed to the streets of Washington DC to quell anti-racism demonstrations.
However, top Pentagon officials Mark Esper, the Defense Secretary, and Mark Milley, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Attorney General Bill Barr, all resisted the request, the reports said.
The mass protests are a significant moment for the Trump administration, which has drawn widespread criticism for its hardline, militarized response and divisive rhetoric during the crisis. (ILKHA)
