Kurdistan reports 104 new coronavirus cases in last 24 hours
104 more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Kurdistan Region, bringing the number of cases to 849 in the country, the Health Ministry announced in a statement on Wednesday.
So far 12,297 people have been quarantined, the statement said, adding that 938 people are in quarantine at the moment.
Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of Interior announced a six-day curfew after a record-breaking infections rate was recorded in a single day on Sunday.
The lockdown decree has gone into effect from the evening of June 1 until June 6 midnight, the Ministry said.
The first case of COVID-19 infection in Iraqi Kurdistan was confirmed on the 1 March.
79,367 tests have been carried out to detect infections in the country.
Kurdistan has so far reported 849 confirmed coronavirus cases, with 14 deaths and 434 recoveries. (ILKHA)
