The lockdown decree will go into effect from the evening of June 1 until June 6 midnight, the Ministry said.

Masrour Barzani, the Prime Minister of Kurdistan Region, urged citizens to abide by curfew and follow public health guidelines at all times.

“As of now a six-day curfew is in place across the whole of the Kurdistan Region. This is for our safety due to a sharp rise in new cases of #coronavirus. It is crucial that we abide by this curfew and follow public health guidelines at all times,” he tweeted on Monday.

Kurdistan has so far reported 728 coronavirus cases, with 7 deaths and 420 recoveries. (ILKHA)
