Mexico reports 151 new deaths from coronavirus
Mexico has reported 151 new deaths from coronavirus, rising the country’s death toll from the virus to 9,930.
“As of May 31, 2020, there are 151 new coronavirus deaths and 3,152 new cases, for an accumulated total of 9,930 fatalities and 90,664 cases,” said Mexico's Deputy Health Minister Hugo Lopez-Gatell in a statement on Twitter.
“Nationwide, 59% of general hospital beds are available and 41% occupied. Of beds with ventilators, 64% are available and 36% occupied,” he added.
The country is easing lockdown measures and reopening the economy, particularly factories near the border with the US.
The traffic light color system will be implemented for the gradual reopening of the country starting June 1, 2020. It will consist of four colors (green, yellow, orange, and red) that represent the severity of the pandemic in each state. The traffic light will be updated weekly and each color will indicate which activities are safe to resume. (ILKHA)
