Turkey reports 29 new deaths from coronavirus in the past 24 hours
29 people have died from coronavirus pandemic in the last 24 hours in Turkey, rising the country’s death toll from the virus to 4,369, said Fahrettin Koca, Turkish Health Minister, on his Twitter account on Monday.
Turkey has so far reported 157,814 confirmed coronavirus cases, an increase of 987 cases in the last 24 hours.
120,015 patients suffering from the disease have fully recovered from the infection and been discharged from hospital.
While 756 patients are being treated in intensive care unit, there are some 371 patients who are mechanically ventilated.
A total of 1,853,754 tests for coronavirus have so far been conducted in the country.
On the other hand, Turkey has imposed a four-day nationwide lockdown for the Eid al-Fitr holiday, in an effort to contain the spread of the new coronavirus.
Markets, grocery stores, greengrocers, and butchers will continue be open from 10am to 5pm local time on May 23, but they will be closed from May 24 to 26. Bakeries will operate during the four-day lockdown. (ILKHA)
