Daily death toll from coronavirus drops to 172 in Italy
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has reached 221,216 in the country, an increase of at least 1,402 cases in the last 24 hours.
The daily death toll from coronavirus is continuing to drop in Italy, which has the highest number deaths due to coronavirus in Europe, while the country has begun to ease the measures taken to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
172 people who tested positive for coronavirus have lost their lives in the past 24 hours, bringing the country’s death toll from the virus to 30,911, according to the Health Ministry.
While 1,539 patients are being treated in intensive care unit, 109,039 patients have fully recovered and been discharged from hospital.
2,108,837 tests have been conducted for coronavirus in the country.
As of March 19, Italy became the country with the highest number of confirmed coronavirus deaths in the world, but on 11 April it was overtaken by the United States.
The country has now the third-highest number of Covid-19 cases in the world after Spain and the US. (ILKHA)
