United Kingdom: Death toll from coronavirus rises to 31,587
At least 346 people have died from coronavirus in the past 24 hours, rising the United Kingdom death toll from the virus to 31,587, said Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps, at Saturday’s daily briefing.
“As of 9am 9 May, there have been 1,728,443 tests, with 96,878 tests on 08 May. 1,270,408 people have been tested of which 215,260 tested positive. As of 5pm on 8 May, of those tested positive for coronavirus, across all settings, 31,587 have sadly died,” the Department of Health and Social Care tweeted on Saturday.
There are 1,559 patients who are being treated at intensive care units at the moment.
According to Worldometer, a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, coronavirus pandemic has so far claimed the lives of at least 278,434 people across the world. (ILKHA)
