Coronavirus in Spain: The number of confirmed cases surpasses 247,000
Spain has reported a further 164 coronavirus deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the country’s death toll to 25,428.
The number of confirmed cases has been 247,122, an increase of 1,533 cases in the past 24 hours, according to the country’s Health Ministry.
While 2,386 patients are being treated in intensive care units, about 148,558 patients suffering from coronavirus have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
1,932,455 tests have so far been conducted to detect coronavirus cases in the country.
Spain has the second-highest coronavirus cases after the U.S. and the third-highest number of deaths after the U.S. and Italy.
The actual number of cases, however, is likely to be much higher, as many people with only mild or no symptoms are unlikely to have been tested. The number of deceased is also believed to be an underestimate due to lack of testing and reporting in the country. (ILKHA)
