First time in history of Canada, Adhan on loudspeakers allowed in Toronto
First time in Canada Adhan has been recited through a loudspeaker from the Madinah Masjid Dan Fourth, Toronto.
In some cities, including Edmonton, Ottawa and Hamilton, the adhan was also allowed. Therefore, the noon, afternoon and evening adhan could be recited over the loudspeaker during Ramadan, the local reports announced.
“The reason why this time it's so important for us is because the city is allowing us to say the Azan publicly. We are very, very happy,” said Alhaj Abubakar, the imam at Masjid Omar Bin Al-Khattab in Toronto.
Muslims who heard the call to prayer through the loudspeaker experienced great joy.
“HISTORICAL MOMENT for Jamaat Malton Canada! The city of Mississauga graciously approved for the recitation of Adhan on loud speaker - and was heard more than 1 km away. Adhan beautifully recited by Atisam Ahmad,” a Canadian Muslim tweeted.
“A few days back, we saw the Quran being recited in Italy and other non-Muslim countries like Germany and US heard Adhan for the first time in their history, surprisingly Canada has joined the list.. Subhan'Allah,” another Muslim said. (ILKHA)
