Turkey: People flocks to street after curfew
A 4-day curfew imposed by Turkish Interior Ministry as a part of measures to contain the spread of coronavirus outbreak has ended as of midnight.
After four-day curfew in cities including Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir ended midnight Sunday, thousands of people flocked to the streets across Turkey.
In Diyarbakır, one of the largest cities in southeastern Turkey, people who spent the month of Ramadan in their homes took to the streets after the ban ended, shopping at grocery stores that were open.
In open institutions such as banks and post offices, the citizens carrying out their transactions did not pay attention to the social distance rule.
Turkey imposed a four-day curfew between April 23 and April 27 on 31 provinces as part of measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, which have so far killed more than 2,805 people in the country. (ILKHA)
