The death toll from coronavirus pandemic grows in Iran
91 more people have died from the coronavirus pandemic in the past 24 hours, bringing Iran’s death toll from the virus to 5,209, said Iran's Health Ministry Public Relations Office Kianoush Jahanpour on Monday.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has risen to 83,505 from 82,211 over the past 24 hours.
While some 3,513 patients are in critical condition, 59,273 patients suffering from the novel coronavirus have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals so far,” Jahanpour said.
Iran reported its first confirmed cases of COVID-19 infections on 19 February 2020 in Qom.
Iran has the seventh-highest number of COVID-19 deaths after the United States, Italy, Spain, France, the United Kingdom and Belgium, and the eighth-highest number of COVID-19 cases in the world.
The coronavirus pandemic, which was first identified in Wuhan, China, and was declared a pandemic by WHO on March 11, has until now infected 2,418,845 people, killing at least 165,759 across the world. (ILKHA)
