US: Iranian vessels conducted harassing approaches against our naval ships in the gulf
11 Iranian vessels repeatedly conducted dangerous & harassing approaches against multiple U.S. naval ships operating in international waters of North Arabian Gulf, announced US Naval Forces Central Command on its Twitter account.
CENTCOM said that U.S. crews took actions deemed appropriate to avoid collision.
It also claimed that Iranian vessel maneuvered in an unsafe & unprofessional manner violating both proper seamanship in accordance with the rules of the road, & due regard for the safety of other vessels in the area as required by international law.
“Initial assessments indicate IRGCN vessels' closest points of approach were 50 yards from USS Lewis B. Puller and 10 yards from USCG Maui. There were no injuries during the interaction,” it added. (ILKHA)
