Turkey confirms first coronavirus case
The first coronavirus case has been confirmed in Turkey, the country's Health Minister Fahrettin Koca announced during a news conference on Wednesday.
The patient, who is a Turkish national travelled from Europe, was tested with high fever and a cough and is in stable condition.
"The patient has now been put into isolation in hospital," he said.
Koca asked people not to be alarmed by the diagnosis, stating that Turkey had still steered clear of an outbreak.
"The coronavirus is not strong enough to break through the measures taken by Turkey," he underlined.
He also urged the public to take precautions against the outbreak in the coming month.
The death toll from coronavirus outbreak, which originated in the Chinese city of Wuhan, has exceeded 4,000, with 113,603 confirmed cases around the world. (ILKHA)
