142,175 migrants leave Turkey for Europe, Turkey's Interior Minister says
Turkey's Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu gave information about the migrants, who left Turkey for Europe, in a statement on Friday.
"As of 12:10 on Friday, the number of migrants who have crossed into Greece is 142,175," the statement said.
Turkey announced that it was deploying 1,000 police special forces along the border on Thursday. Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced on Thursday that Turkey would stop keeping hundreds of thousands of migrants in its territory after an air strike on Idlib in northern Syria killed 33 Turkish soldiers and injured many others.
Reported by UNHCR in 2018, Turkey is hosting 63.4% of all the refugees (from Middle East, Africa, and Afghanistan) in the world. As of 2019, Refugees of the Syrian Civil War in Turkey (3.6 million) are highest "registered" refugees. (ILKHA)
