Islamic countries should take deterrent measures against Myanmar: HÜDA PAR
In his weekly statement about foreign agenda, HÜDA PAR Chairman İshak Sağlam made important assessments about the decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Myanmar, Berlin Conference, zionist gangs attacks on Gaza.
About the ruling of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordering Myanmar to take "provisional measures" to prevent genocidal acts against the Rohingya community, Sağlam said: "We call on Islamic countries to take deterrent measures against Myanmar administration."
Reminding that the Gambia filed a case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), accusing Myanmar of breaching its obligations under the 1948 Genocide Convention, Sağlam: "The International Court of Justice has ordered Myanmar to take provisional measures to prevent genocidal acts against the Rohingya community. While the court's ruling, which included measures to protect Rohingya Muslims, was binding, the Myanmar administration had previously made a statement that the court did not have jurisdiction over Myanmar. Despite the court ruling is in favor of Rohingya Muslims and orders Myanmar to report regularly to the tribunal about its progress every 6 months until a final decision is reached, the Myanmar administration is not expected to fulfill its responsibilities."
Calling on Islamic countries to take deterrent measures against Myanmar administration, Sağlam stated: "While the Myanmar government's crimes against Rohingya Muslims have been recognized as genocide, no deterrent steps have been taken against it. Moreover, Myanmar has continued to deprive Rohingya Muslims of all social and legal rights. We call on Islamic countries take deterrent measures under the leadership of The Organization of Islamic Cooperation against Myanmar government so that Rohingya Muslims can achieve all their social and legal rights, improve their living conditions and be saved from genocidal policies."
Berlin Conference on Libya
Touching on Berlin Conference, Sağlam stated: "The Berlin Conference, which was held on January 19th with the participation of Representatives of the Arab League, the African Union, the UN, the European Union and 12 countries to negotiate the Libyan crisis, ended with the announcement of the conclusions, which consist 55 articles. "Ceasefire", "Arms Embargo", "Return to Political Process", "Security Sector Reform", "Economic and Financial Reform", "Respect for International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights" and "International Follow-up Committee" are the important chapters of the conclusions."
Sağlam went on to say: "The conference was an important step towards resolving the Libyan crisis, which has been ongoing since the overthrow of the Gaddafi regime, through negotiation. The reasonable way to end the crisis is to remove foreign interference from Libya and to declare a permanent ceasefire without preconditions. Otherwise, the fact that the intervening countries are on the table will mean nothing but prolonging the war and increasing the destruction in Libya."
Zionist occupation gangs' attacks on Gaza
About zionist occupation gangs' attacks on Gaza, Sağlam said: "On the one hand, the occupation regime carries out attacks on critical positions in order to depopulate Gaza and weaken the resistance; on the other hand, it continues its preparations under the Deal of the Century. The Zionist regime has stepped up building new settlements despite being declared illegal by the UN and the international community. Encouraged by the silence of the Islamic world and their quarrel with each other, the occupation regime also carries out constant raids on Masjid Aqsa and kidnaps worshipping Muslims. Zionist occupation gangs have recently ordered the former Mufti of Jerusalem and current head of the Higher Islamic Council, Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, off Al-Aqsa Mosque for one week."
"International community should do something about Palestinian people"
Sağlam concluded as follows: "The occupation regime, which violates international law and takes away the most basic human rights of Palestinians, is preparing to announce the Deal of the Century. Unfortunately, many Islamic states are supportive of the treachery treaty that legalizes genocide against Palestinian people and deportation of them from their homeland. The current chaotic situation created in many regional countries in connection with the security policy of the occupation regime will spread throughout the Middle East and become permanent with the announcement of the Deal of the Century. Muslim public opinion should act against the Deal, which aims at depopulating of Palestinian territory in line with the zionists' policy of expansionism. International organizations should do something about Palestinian people and steps should be taken to prevent the deal from coming into force." (ILKHA)
