AFAD: More than 1015 people injured in the 6.8 magnitude earthquake in eastern Turkey
At least 147 aftershocks, the strongest with magnitudes 5.4 and 5.1, occured after Sivrice, a town in the eastern province of Elazığ, was hit by the 6.8 magnitude earthquake at 8:55 p.m. local time on Friday.
Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) said that in the 6.8 magnitude earthquake jolted eastern Turkey 1015 people were injured in Elazığ, Malatya, Diyarbakır, Adıyaman, Batman, Kahramanmaraş and Şanlıurfa provinces.
The earthquake, centered on Sivrice district in Elazığ, was felt as far afield as Iraq, Syria, Iran and Lebanon. (ILKHA)
