At least 12 civilians killed in Russian jets airstrikes on Idlib
More than 12 civilians have been killed killed in Russian jets airstrikes on civilian targets in Idlib de-escalation zones of northwestern Syria.
Russian warplanes carried out air strikes on Idlib's village of Bara, Bsida and Masaran as well as the villages of Kefer Dael, Mansura, Kefer Teal, Irhab, Takad, Shamiko and Indomi in the western countryside of Aleppo.
A total of 12 civilians were killed by the airstrikes in the village of Bara, Kefer Teal,Takad.
The Idlib de-escalation zones is an ongoing agreement between Turkey and Russia to create a demilitarized zone in Syria's opposition held Idlib Governorate, to be patrolled by military forces from Russia and Turkey. On 17 September 2018, the Russian president Vladimir Putin and Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reached an agreement to create a buffer zone in Idlib.
According to the UN, since then it has documented more than 1,500 civilian deaths, nearly half of them are women and children. Local rights groups, however, say the death toll is much higher. (ILKHA)
