Death toll rises to three in pneumonia outbreak in China
Chinese health authorities have been struggling with a pneumonia outbreak that has so far infected at least 198 people.
The local authorities reported 198 new cases of the new strain of coronavirus over the weekend.
Further cases have been confirmed in Japan, South Korea and Thailand while suspected cases have also been seen in a number of other countries and territories
Coronaviruses are common in many different species of animals, including camels and bats. Rarely, these coronaviruses can evolve and infect humans and then spread between humans. Recent examples of this include SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV. (ILKHA)
