The murderer of leading figure of Naqshbandi Islamic order arrested
The murderer of leading figure of Naqshbandi Islamic order Abdülkerim Çevik, who was killed in an armed attack in Turkey's eastern province of Bitlis on Sunday, has been arrested, the local officials announced on Monday.
The suspect, who shot Çevik to death, was arrested by the court after his interrogation was completed in Provincial Police Department of Bitlis.
Çevik, the head teacher of the town’s Islamic madrasah, is the grandson of respected Naqshibandi teacher Muhammed Ziyaeddin.
The Naqshbandi İs a major Islamic spiritual order of Sufism. It got its name from Baha-ud-Din Naqshiband Buhari and traces its spiritual lineage to the Islamic prophet Muhammed (PBUH) through Abu Bakr, who was a father-in-law and companion of Muhammad. Some Naqshbandi masters trace their lineage through Ali, his son-in-law and successor, in keeping with most other Sufis. (ILKHA)
