Turkish parliament confirms the country's 2020 budget
After a 12-day marathon session in the general assembly, Turkish parliament confirmed the country's 2020 budget in Saturday.
Mustafa Şentop, the President of Grand National Assembly of Turkey, announced the budget was supported by 329 lawmakers while 159 voted against it in the 600-seat chamber.
While lawmakers from the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party and opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) approved the budget, lawmakers from Republican People's Party, Good Party and The Peoples' Democratic Party voted against the budget.
Describing the budget as a cornerstone in a voice message on Twitter, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said:" I congratulate everyone, who exerted efforts; particularly Grand National Assembly of Turkey that conducted the budget works successfully, which I think a very important cornerstone, and our deputies, during our march towards our 2023 targets. It is now time to walk through our goals much more determinedly and strongly." (ILKHA)
