Turkish delegation meets with UNHCR on Syrians’ repatriation
Turkish delegation under the auspices of Yavuz Selim Kıran and representatives of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) convened in Ankara today (29 November), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Friday.
Noting that both sides agreed on the importance and urgency of enhancing joint efforts in a result oriented manner with a view to ensuring safe and voluntary returns of Syrians, the ministry said: "Turkey and UNHCR will continue to work closely in all refugee matters, including durable humanitarian solutions for Syrians."
Reminding that the first meeting took place on Nov. 11, 2019, The ministry added: "Both sides agreed to convene the third round of talks in Geneva in early 2020. Turkish, UN officials discuss Syrians’ repatriation. Both sides work closely on Syrian people taking shelter in Turkey." (İLKHA)
