Internet access has reportedly been blocked in most parts of Iraq as of 00:01 (local time) on Tuesday, November 5, as anti- government protests continue across the country.

Internet service disruptions are ongoing in Bagdat, Basra, Karbala and other major population centers, according to media reports.

It is not known how long the restrictions will remain in place.

Protesters took to streets on October 1 to protest government corruption, inadequate provision of public services, and a lack of job opportunities. After weeks of relative calm, demonstrations violently resumed on October 24-25. At least 250 people have been killed and 10,000 wounded by security forces since protests began on October 1. (ILKHA)
