China launches new Earth observation satellite on Sunday
China launched Gaofen-7, a new Earth observation satellite, which will play a significant role in land surveying and mapping, urban and rural construction and statistical investigation.
According to the China National Space Administration (CNSA), China launched Gaofen-7, a new Earth observation satellite on Sunday, achieving a breakthrough in sub-meter level 3D mapping camera technology, meeting the highest mapping accuracy requirement among the Gaofen series Earth observation satellites.
The rocket that carried Gaofen lifted off from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in northern China at 11.22 am local time.
Gaofen-7 will boost China’s self-reliance in accessing high-resolution earth observation data and help end China’s reliance on foreign imports. (ILKHA)
