Police seize more than a million roots of hemp and 974 kilos of marijuana
A total of one million 349 thousand 104 root hemp plants and 974 kilos of cannabis were seized at 7 different points in the operation launched in Lice, district of Diyarbakır.
Diyarbakır governorate office announced Wednesday that an operation was carried out by the Provincial Gendarmerie Command in the mountainous and rural area of Lice district.
The aim of the operation was described as to search for and neutralize separatist organization members, to identify shelters used by organization members, to seize weapons and ammunition inside them, to destroy other materials and shelters, to reveal the link between organization members and those who manufacture and trade illegal drugs.
Governorate office announced that the operation, launched on Monday, August 19, 2019, at 22: 00 with gendarmerie commando teams and security guards, has completed successfully as of 22: 00 on Tuesday, August 20, 2019.
"During this operational activity, a total of one million 349 thousand 104 roots of cannabis plants and 974 kilos of 150 grams of cannabis were seized at 7 different points," the statement read, adding that cannabis plants were destroyed in the site.
In relation to the drugs in question, four persons named R.K, R.Ö, M.A, and A.A. have been arrested in Lice district and legal proceedings have been started against them. (ILKHA)
