Knife attack on Syrian family: 1 dead, 3 injured
Father died at the scene in a knife attack on a Syrian family watering a field in Kızıltepe, district of Mardin, a southeastern province of Turkey, while his wife and two children, aged 11 and 2, were injured.
The incident occurred in the Çiftlibağ (Tilkerê) neighborhood of Kızıltepe district, near Turkey's border with Syria.
Syrian Azad Mohammed, 34, who was watering in a field in the Çiftlibağ neighborhood, and a Turkish citizen, A.B. have been in a debate for a reason yet to be determined.
On the growth of the debate, A.B pulled his knife and stabbed Azad Muhammad in different parts of his body.
The attacker also stabbed Azad Muhammad's wife Yüsra Abdo, 37, who wanted to intervene and prevent her husband from knife attacks of A.B., while their daughters who were there at the time, Şêxa 11, and Emgihan 2, were also wounded by the knife.
Azad Muhammad died at the scene, while his wife Yüsra and daughters Şêxa and Emgihan were taken to Kızıltepe State Hospital and treated. The mother and daughters were found to be in no life-threatening condition.
The funeral of Azad Mohammed, who died in the attack, was taken from Kızıltepe State Hospital morgue after an autopsy, to Tiltemir town in his native Syria's Qamishli district to be buried by crossing the Şenyurt border.
The gendarmerie, which is investigating the incident, took A.B. into custody. (ILKHA)
