US releases Hakan Atilla, deputy director of Turkish Halkbank
Mehmet Hakan Atilla, the former Deputy Director-General of Turkish Halkbank, who was imprisoned in the United States, was released on Friday.
Mehmet Hakan Atilla was convicted over the Iran sanctions trial in the United States.
Mehmet Hakan Atilla, former Deputy Director-General of Halkbank, accused of violating imperialist US sanctions against Iran, was detained and arrested in New York, March 27, 2017.
Atilla, who pleaded guilty in the Iran sanctions case and was sentenced to 32 months in prison, moved the verdict to the court of Appeal.
Atilla, who was previously described as having an eviction date of July 25 but will be released early "due to the good state act," on Friday.
Barring behind bars at FCI Schuylkill prison in the U.S. State of Pennsylvania, Atilla is expected to return to Turkey. (ILKHA)
