The fact that provocative events are taking place in every visit of the US Consulate General in Adana to the eastern region of Turkey while the public is worrying about the fact that these visits are not innocent.

The United States, which continues its actual occupation in the Islamic world, is at the top of the agenda with its "treaty of the century" project and its escalating tension and war rhetoric against Iran.

Of course, there are no Islamic countries such as Palestine, Afghanistan, Yemen, and Syria in the target of US foreign policy focused on imperialist purposes. One of the most important goals of the occupying US is undoubtedly the geography and future of Kurdistan…

In this sense, the United States is making an effort to form a strong foundation for achieving its imperial goals through the oppression of the Kurdish people. US occupation activities in both Iraq and Syria also point to this plan. Of course, the activities of the United States apart from in these two regions, continue in other provinces of Kurd too. In this context, the US consulate in Adana carries out intensive activities.

The officials of the Adana Consulate General of the United States, who had not seen in eastern provinces of Turkey, such as Diyarbakır, Mardin, Batman, have shown up again after the HDP won municipalities in these provinces on March 31 local elections.

The fact that the US embassies in Adana act as the "governor of the region" and that their "informal" visits and meetings, with their own words, to the provinces of the region, especially to Diyarbakır, causes many questions in minds while followed by the provocative actions.

As will be remembered, John L Espinosa, the US Consul in Adana in that time, visited region intensively in the previous years while provocative events had taken place after his leave.

Such provocative events are; attacks against Islamic NGOs in the month of Ramadan in 2013, the attacks that took place in history as the "massacre of October 6-7" where a 16-years-old Yasin Börü and his friends were brutally massacred, attacks of the organization [PKK] on a neighborhood of Cizre, district of Şırnak, where members of HUDA PAR were intensively residing, the assassination of HUDA PAR members Abdülcelil Talayhan and M. Şerif Durmaz brutally murdered in Idil, district of Şırnak, right before June 7 elections.

After three years of office, Espinoza replaced Linda Specht on August 24, 2014, and after taking over, Specht maintained contacts in the region in parallel with Espinoza's activities.

Although the consul changed, US officials who came to Kurdish provinces, especially Diyarbakır continued their informal meetings.

However, the officials of the Adana consulate of the United States who could not make the visit to the region frequently for the last 3 years due to the appointment of trustees to the management of municipalities, have started to continue their contacts in recent days.

Adana consulate officials of the USA, who came to the region again after a long period, have donated $40,000 to "women's assembly", which established first in Turkey under Diyarbakır Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the planned works of "gender trend".

Such Western projects, gender trend, and gender equality, which aimed to corrupt society, had come to Turkey's agenda in previous months and received intense criticism.

These projects aimed at the belief and culture of the people became the target of criticism in many European countries while some countries have terminated the implementation of these projects.

Before the actual occupation, the imperialist USA, which aims at social change and transformation by occupying their minds, is the greatest power to support these projects.

Alejandro Baez, the new US Consul in Adana, met with the mayor of Diyarbakır, Adnan Selçuk Mızraklı and then met with the president of Mardin Metropolitan Municipality, Ahmet Türk, and Batman Municipality President Mehmet Demir.

Baez's visits to important cities in the region such as Diyarbakır, Batman, and Mardin, has brought the question "what is the U.S. looking for again?" to mind based on experiences. (M. Salih Keskin - ILKHA)
