"Is there anyone who can defend Islamic Family Law?" asked Dr. Abdulkadir Turan, a columnist in Doğruhaber Newspaper, while drew attention to the negative impact of European Union-compliant legislation on families.

Turan, who stated that society is not aware of how a catastrophe facing family institution because of the confidence in the ruling Justice and Development Party, also presented proposals for a solution.

In his proposal for solutions, Turan stated that it is necessary to live Islam's family law, to be in an attitude that exceeds words and to take practical steps under the current circumstances.

"The regulations of family law in 1926 and later had the effects of nationalist powers that cared about the synthesis of Christianity and modernism in Europe.

For the nationalistic governments of Europe, marriage was a social value. The family formed by the marriage contract was also valuable as a unit protecting social values, an institution that needs to be protected.

That understanding gave the family an important place in the system, attributing the duty to protect the social values, encouraging to become a family, and bringing precautions to protect the family," said columnist Turan while mentioned early family regulations that Turkiye had taken from Europe.

"For this purpose, the Civil Code introduced in Turkey after 1926, although it conflicts with Islamic law in many ways, does not wage war against the family by paying attention to its social value, and does not contain provisions against the direct existence of the family," he noted.

"The Civil Law Regulations, which started on 28 February and were made insistently during AK Party period, have very different nature and are one of the main reasons for our complaints about the dissolution of the family today," Turan warned.

"To reveal our family law, which we cannot live under the present conditions, with wisdom and openness as the basis of invitation to Islam, and to present it to those who rule and society as a strong proposal," Turan suggested. (ILKHA)
