Russia approves "Autonomous Internet Law"
The Duma; the lower house of the Russian parliament adopted the new law, "autonomous internet".
Russia's lower house of parliament approved on Tuesday the new law entitles "autonomous internet" by 307 votes against 68.
Under the new law, the internet stream in the country will be controlled at state-controlled inspection points.
Special systems will be used to facilitate the blocking of internet sites banned by the government.
Critics of recent internet restrictions argue that the new law will further increase these restrictions.
According to those who support the autonomous internet law, Russia will be more secure against possible cyber-attacks. (ILKHA)
