Turkish Airlines announced Wednesday that they have grounded all 12 Boeing 737 Max model aircraft until a second decision. The decision was taken after the same model planes crashed minutes after takeoff in Indonesia and Ethiopia left all dead on boards.

"The commercial operations of the 12 Boeing 737 MAX model passenger aircraft in our fleet have been grounded as of March 13 until a second decision," said Turkish Airlines in a statement.

Commenting on the plane crash in Ethiopia, Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Ekşi said they are in contact with Boeing, the aircraft manufacturer, regarding the Boeing 737 MAX operations. "Flight safety is our priority. We follow the developments very closely."

Stating that they carry out all operations in accordance with the highest level of flight safety, Ekşi noted that all 737 MAX aircraft have been grounded from commercial flights as of March 13 until the uncertainty that will affect the safety of the flight has been clarified. (ILKHA)
