The next round of Astana Summit to be held in mid-February
The next meeting of Astana summit devoted to the Syrian settlement will be held in Russia in mid-February, said Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East.
Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East said the next round of the Astana summit would take place in mid-February by the participation of Turkish, Iranian and Russian leaders.
Speaking at a press conference, Bogdanov said that the Astana Summit will be held in Sochi or Moscow, noting that the venue is not certain.
Although the efforts of Iran, Turkiye and Russia and the work of the Syrian Constitutional Committee are expected to be completed by 2018, Bogdanov stressed that the process did not end as a result of the pressure exerted by the West.
"The UN Special Envoy for Syria, Pedersen, continues negotiations with Iran and Turkiye, and we hope that the work of the Constitutional Committee will be concluded as soon as possible," he said.
Although it is not certain when Astana summit will be held, it is expected that the meeting to be held in Sochi on February 12. (ILKHA)
