Reactions continue against the uphold of Supreme Court against HUDA PAR vice presidents Sait Şahin, M. Bahattin Temel and journalist Fikret Gültekin, those were sentenced by plots and conspiracies of FETO judges in 2011.

Related to the issue, lawyers, politicians, NGO representatives, opinion leaders, and the public have indicated that the old judiciary is still strong in the new Turkiye's influence.

Feyzi Aydın, the spokesman for the Batman-based platform of Rights and Freedoms, who reacted to the conviction decision, said that the new Turkiye could not look at the future with confidence until it has been freed from the old Judiciary.

Saying that the old judiciary is domineering in the new Turkiye, Aydın emphasized that the mentality of Feb. 28 and FETO is effective in the judiciary despite the change of people.

"The punishment given to HUDA PAR executives will give great harm to peace and brotherhood," said Aydın.

"Power didn't remove dirty hands from decision-making mechanism"

Stating that many things have changed in Turkiye, Aydın said, "There is an elected government now. People are in great demand from the power they have elected with their votes. There have been some improvements in human rights and freedoms, economic development. But unfortunately, most of the expectations were not met."

Aydın continued that the government, which elected by the people and asked to normalize the country, has been in power for 16 years and has become a power capable of day-by-day, but could not remove the dirty hands from decision-making mechanisms or did not remove them intentionally.

"Punishment given to HUDA PAR executives will harm peace and brotherhood"

Stating that punishment given to HUDA PAR executives will harm Turkiye, Aydın lastly said: "This punishment will harm peace and brotherhood. Not only this final decision, but all practices that lead to grievances and atrocities should be abolished and unlawful practices that leading to victimization must end. In addition, work must start immediately for a civil constitution. The only guarantee that Turkiye will not return to its old, dark days is a civil, libertarian, just Constitution. (ILKHA)
