Precedent "headscarf" decision from the Constitutional Court
The Constitutional Court concluded the fact that a student who was dismissed from the university due to the headscarf ban and had to return the scholarships she had received, that violated religious freedom and the right to education.
The General Assembly of the Constitutional Court of Turkiye announced the conclusion of an individual application of a student who was dismissed from the university due to a ban on the headscarf, for having to return scholarships she received.
The Constitutional Court found the claims of "religious freedom and the right to education were violated" as "acceptable" last week in the direction of an individual application of a student who had been dismissed from the university due to the headscarf ban and had to return the scholarships she had received.
The Court further concluded that the freedom of religion guaranteed by Article 24 of the Constitution and the right to education guaranteed under Article 42 of the Constitution were violated. (ILKHA)
