Killing Khashoggi was a rogue operation: Saud Foreign Minister
Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir said that the incident was a rogue operation and a mistake, in a press statement about the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Speaking on the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Saudi Consulate Building in Istanbul, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said it was a rogue operation and mistake during a press conference.
Jubeir added that there were still unanswered questions in need of answers. "Saudi Crown Prince has nothing to do with the death of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. This issue will not affect the foreign policy of Saudi."
Stating that the murder took place on Saudi's land, Jubeir said: "We do so as other states examine actions on their own lands, the consulate is our land."
Stating the crime as a rogue operation and mistake, the foreign minister said, "The crime was a rogue operation and mistake. Anyone involved in the crime will be investigated and prosecuted. The case is a forensic case and we refuse to politicize it."
Jubeir added that it is unacceptable to move the Khashoggi case to the international dimension. "There is a big difference between accusing the perpetrators and the Saudi state. We are sorry for the crime. And those who carried out this crime will be judged as necessary." (ILKHA)
