Strengthening works in Hasankeyf to cost ?250 million
While some of the works in Hasankeyf were moving to the new location due to the Ilisu Dam and hydroelectric power plant, strengthening work will cost ?250 million for those historic works could not be moved.
In the town of Hasankeyf in Batman, work continues in the historical district, which will be flooded by the Ilısu Dam and hydroelectric power plant that was started by the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works [DSI] 12 years ago.
While the move of Zeynel Bey Tomb, Artuklu Bath, and Imam Abdullah Zawiya have completed, works to move the middle door of the castle and minaret continue in the district. Strengthening works continue for historic places that cannot be moved, which will cost ?250 million.
"Within the scope of Hasankeyf geotechnical and geological aspects, it is aimed to strengthen and provide the structures that are not submerged, together with an ancient port to be constructed afterward. For this purpose, we have a total of 3.8 million cube fillings in 4 Valleys, said Ali Naci Kösali, DSI 16 Regional Director, while providing information about the strengthening works to be done in the historic district of Hasankeyf.
Kösali stated that the works of strengthening historical monuments will cost around 250 million liras. (ILKHA)
