Harvesting of Turkiye's first, world's second quality Bingöl's honey
Harvesting of Turkiye's first and world's second quality Bingöl honey, which produce in rich flora springs, has finished.
The honey of Bingöl, an eastern province of Turkiye, was elected as Turkiye's first and world second quality among of 120 countries at the 45th World Beekeepers Apimondia Congress held in Istanbul Harbiye Congress Center last year.
Honey producers complain this year that they couldn't produce in the desired level when compared to the last year because of weather conditions.
Mehmet Can Özer, president of the Bingöl Bee Cultivators Association, said that they had carried out a study with the Bingöl University in order to register the honey produced in the spring with rich floras in Bingöl. Üzer stated that the honey harvest was done in the springs and that the honey yield was lower than the last year due to the weather conditions.
"We should produce quality honey instead of producing too much honey"
Üzer, who stated that they are looking for quality honey instead of producing more, said, "Our springs have been a little inefficient in 2018. Despite this, all of our beekeepers have been trying to produce quality honey in Bingöl. We are working for the registration of the Bingöl Honey with the geographical sign with the Pilot University Coordination Center [PICOM] established within the Bingöl University. We are working to increase the quality of Bingöl Highland Honey." (Nihat Kanat - ILKHA)
