"Let's celebrate the eid by hugging, not by messaging"
Turkiye Green Crescent Society Mardin Branch Chairman Lütfi Günlüoğlu said that the eid should be celebrated by hugging each other, not by messaging.
Turkiye Green Crescent Society Mardin Branch Chairman Lütfi Günlüoğlu issued a message on the occasion of approaching Eid al-Adha, recalled some forgotten values of the society.
Particularly pointed out that excessive and unnecessary use of technology or improper applications undermines the sincerity of people, Branch President Günlüoğlu stressed that performing eid should not be in the form of mass messages, which will be more beneficial by removing technologic items in that day.
"The Eids are sacred for us, irreplaceable events for our society. Every society has its own customs and beliefs. We, as Muslim societies, have lost our traditions and sincerity after our life has entered technology. We are now starting to send messages instead of hugging, embracing during the eid. Instead of surfing the internet, it would be better to visit our neighbors, friends, and relatives. We forgot to kiss hands of elderly people," he said. (M. Salih Keskin - ILKHA)
