After the retirement of the former president of Diyanet Mehmet Görmez, Yalova University Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş was appointed to the Presidency of Religious Affairs.
Appointment of decision is expected to be published in the Official Gazette this evening.
After the retirement former president Mehmet Görmez, the Religious Affairs High Council of Religious Affairs Chairman Ekrem Keleş had served as alternate President.
Who is Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş?
Born in Ordu in 1961 and graduated from primary school, Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş graduated from Sakarya Imam-Hatip High School in 1980 and from Marmara University Faculty of Theology in 1984.
Erbaş, who was appointed to the Directorate of Religious Affairs Presidency Education Services in 2011, has carried out this task for 6 years. Erbaş was appointed to the Rector of Yalova University on 8 June 2017. Published 12 books, numerous articles, and reports presented at many symposia and conferences, Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş is married and has 4 children. (ILKHA)
