Parliamentary Secretary of the Egyptian Constitutional and Development Party and Muhammad Mursi Period Assembly Member of the Human Rights Commission Usame Rushdie participated in the seminar organized by the Center for Strategic Thought and Analysis [SDAM].

Speaking at a seminar held at Istanbul headquarters of the seminar room in Fatih on “Recent Political Situation in Egypt” Rushdie, referring of accounts of Western on Egypt during the overthrow of Mubarak in 2011 the Egyptian army management completely had hidden its intention.

Usame Rushdie, who started talking about the Egyptian occupation by the British, stated that the British had established military mechanisms in the aftermath of the invasion and kept Egypt under indirect control.

Rushdie said, “The British have left a guardian military order behind them, the first distinguishing feature of this order was Jamal Abdul Nasir. Nasser, with a military mentality, attempted to direct Egypt and exerted an intense pressure on the Islamic sects. Then Anwar Sadat took over the administration, After Sadat's assassination, Hosni Mubarak ruled Egypt for 30 years with a heavy dictator.”

Egyptian people who expressed great suffering during Hosni Mubarak's 30-year administration said Rushdie, “During Mubarak period, people were in very bad situation. Great sorrows experienced as social, economic and political. Egyptian dungeons were filled with young people from the Islamic section. Because of the atmosphere, Islamic organizations start struggling from the first day against Mubarak regime since 2004. This situation continued until the revolutionary process in 2011.”

“The army has hidden its real intention to take over the administration completely”

Rushdie expressed that the army did not act like police forces at the beginning of the revolution on January 25, 2011, “The army tried to show a good attitude at the beginning of the revolutionary demonstration. Although Mubarak's orders, the army did not interfere with the people in the demonstrations. The attitude of the army was subject to very positive evaluations. However, as part of the elections, and later in the 2013 coup, the Egyptian Army had applied a strategy that hid the real intention of passing power from Mubarak and his family completely to them.”

“The army tried to divide the alliance of the revolution”

Rushdie stated that the Egyptian people acted as the one heart in the process of the revolution in 2011, “The Army was in the background for a while when they saw that people were the one heart and one power during the 18 days of events. But triggered every formation to demand for their own desires, attempted them to be divided.”

“The Dictatorship of Sisi is in effect in Egypt”

Rushdie shared important information about the coup process and the aftermath, said today that a Sisi dicta is literally judging in Egypt.

Rushdie continued his speech as follows:

“There was great sorrow in Egypt after the coup process. Muslim Brotherhood was declared a ‘terrorist organization’. All rights were suspended and thousands of people were slaughtered. One of the biggest massacres of human history was carried out in the Rabia square. There were many massacres outside of Rabia Square. For example there are about 200 of our student brothers and sisters who are killed in their classes. About 60 thousand of our brothers and sisters are kept in very bad conditions in Egyptian dungeons. Even some of them are taken out of the dungeons and executed in the Sinai deserts with the lie that they are “from Daesh and attacked on the military”.

“Sisi punishes public as he unsuccessful”

Rushdie stated that Egypt is experiencing great social, economic and political tensions during the Sisi period and said, “There is a great deal of social and economic difficulties in the administration of Sisi. Killing people and ignoring human rights became ordinary. There is no political stability, sense of social peace and security. In the Mursi period an US Dollar corresponds to 7 Egyptian Pounds, today one Dollar corresponds to about 20 Egyptian Pounds. The salary of the workers are same. There are no authorities to help the public because charitable institutions are closed. The state debts have increased by about 200 percent. Sisi has been failing openly in every field and is trying to punish the public as he unsuccessful. But as it is experienced during Nasser, Sadat and Mubarak, those who rule the country with military dicta are lost and will lose.” (ILKHA)
