European Parliament made 'No' call for Turkish referendum
European Parliament External Relations Commission President Elmar Brok called on Turkish citizens in Germany to vote 'no' in the referendum.
Elmar Brok, European deputy of the German Christian Democratic Union (CDU) Party, requested a vote of 'no' in the statement on the start of voting at the Turkish consulates in Germany.
The Christian Democratic politician, who argues that the adoption of the Presidential Government System will further distance Turkiye from Europe, said that “Turkiye will be contrary to European principles with the constitution intended to be changed and not to become a member of the European Union”.
There are 1.4 million Turkish citizens living in Germany who have the right to vote in elections and referendums in Turkiye. Voting by Turkiye's foreign representatives, starting on March 27, will end on 9 April. (Mustafa Kaynak - ILKHA)
