Reaction from prisoner families against the new contact visit regulation
Prisoner families have showed reaction to the regulation that let the contact visitation to be done once in 2 months for prisoners and detainees those are in prison because of some crimes, they said that with this regulation prisoners as well as families are punished.
“The regulation to amend regulation about visitation of prisoner and detainees” has published yesterday in the Official Gazette. According to the regulation, establishment of institution, its security and layout to be taken into consideration, on date of 26/9/2004, with the number of 5237, crimes those identified as criminal code in second book, third, fourth section fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh, on date of 12/4/1991 and with the number of 5237, with the decision of management and survey council, contact visitation will be done once in 2 month for prisoners and detainees who are inmate according to ‘crimes in the scope-of-terror’ law.
Reacting to the decision, families of prisoners said that both prisoners and families have been punished with the decision.
Mehmet Baran, brother of Ihsan Baran who has been in prison for 23 years because of his Islamic identity, indicated that they can’t make any sense with the decision.
Baran, “My older brother is in prison for 23 years innocently. The contact visit of political prisoners has been set from once a month to once in 2 months. We are in confused now. They want to punish prisoners as well as families. There are around 2 hour official dealing when we go to jail. We make only one hour meet when we get inside. The attitude of guardians and soldiers are not nice. We can’t communicate easily while they always disturbing by saying time is about expire, time is about up. While we already suffer from this, now they protracted it to 2 months. There are torments to other prisoners because of parallel structure. Why have they been doing this to us because of parallel structure? Do this implementation on FETO.” he said.
Addressing the authorities Baran to repeal the regulation indicated that they want justice not amnesty.
Hatice Ezer whom husband is in jail for 17 years as innocent also said that those who are victimized by FETO once again have been victimized by the state.
Although we are right , they are persecuting us
Mrs. Ezer, “My husband is in jail for 17 years. There are prisoners in jail for 22 years with him. We are victimized by FETO, too. Everyone deserves right but no one recognizes it for us. Now, it is a punishment for us to protract the visitation. Although we are right, they have persecuting us. They need to give our prisoners’ rights. They need to give a new way to retrial for our convicts to give their rights how they had given rights to Ergenekons and others”
38 thousand prisoners will release but Islamic sensitive’s ones won’t release
Melek Yildiz, wife of prisoner Cihan Yildiz also uttered her reaction to the regulation: “There are our prisoners are in jail for more than 20 years. Great wrongs are being doing to them. Especially it’s us suffered from parallel structure. We want those cases to be dropped and restoration of honor should be given in order to remove these wrongs. Authorities have to give ear and listen to our voice. We will continue to our struggle juristically. 38 thousand prisoners will release but Islamic sensitive’s ones won’t release because of teaching Quran. Also protracting the visit once in 2 months is an unjust treatment to them and to us.”
M.Zeki Salamboga, who said that his father M.Selim Salamboga has been in jail for 23 years, indicated that it hurts them while there is no any beneficial clause for Islamic identities prisoners in the new regulation.
Salamboga said that they ask for retrial for his father and continued, “We addressing to the Government, we want retrial. Calipers, plots against Yusufies need to be scrutinizing again. We don’t want amnesty. We want a fair trial. We want prevail of justice. It is a big torture for us that the contact vision visit will be done once in 2 months. We want this to be revised again. They need to stop the oppression they give us.” reacted by saying.
Kadriye Elbahadır said that her son is in jail for 20 years, reacted against the contact vision visit that protracted to 2 months, and requested from the officials to be turn from this mistake right away.
Why are they blocking out visit because of FETO?
Mrs. Elbahadır, “You are making our contact vision visit every two months because of these events. We don’t want this, we want justice. Why are you blocking our visit because of FETO? If you are president, if you suffer great hardship, you won’t leave us yearning to our sons. My son is in jail for 20 years, we want justice not amnesty for them. You release thieves; you release those who did dirty things. Just because of ours are Muslims, my son is in jail for 20 years.” she reproached.
We suffer great hardship now
Painful mother Elbahadır lastly said those: “We already could visit our children once a month. O Erdogan, secure the justice if you are a son of mother and father, release our children. Vallahi we suffer great hardship now. Bingol, Mardin, Kirikkale, İzmir, Siirt… There is no place that I didn’t go after my son. Now it’s you with your conscience and with your mercy” (İLKHA)
