Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu held a joint press conference after the meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Cevat Zarif. In the press conference Çavuşoğlu emphasized that they will strengthen cooperation with Iran to solve the crisis in Syria. Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif stated that they are happy with the beginning of cooperation between Turkey and Russia.

 “The trade between two countries declined” said Çavuşoğlu and indicated that their target is to raise it $30 billion. Çavuşoğlu, “There is a considerable interest in increasing the amount of mutual investment. We are in thought to increase our trade volume. There is also energy cooperation in regional issues. Natural gas coming to Turkey, we want to buy more. We also talked about the price without leaving it to arbitrations; we should get agree about the price.  We found opportunity to evaluate our cooperation in the electricity field and transportation of Iranian natural gas to Europe.” said Mr. Çavuşoğlu.

Çavuşoğlu said: “The issue of Syria will be considered in a closer cooperation. We agree over Syria’s territorial integrity. We emphasize from the beginning the importance of constructive role of Iran in Syria for a sustainable solution. We don’t see a distinction between PKK-PEJAK-PYD and all are threat for the region, especially for Turkey and Iran. There are unfortunately radicalized terrorist organization such as ISIS and El-Nusra in the region. We need to fight together against these. We will strengthen cooperation for a sustainable peace in Syria. ”

Zarif: “We see the security of Turkey as our own security.”

Mentioning the coup attempt occurred on 15th July Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif, “I would like to congratulate the people of Turkey for their resist against coup. The peoples of the region showed that they don’t allow their democratic right taken away from them.  The people and representatives of Iran are with the people of Turkey. The relation of Iran and Turkey is very persistent and wide. The denominational and historical associations give possibility for the relationship of Iran and Turkey. There is still more to reach the trade volume that both two country’s leaders determined. To reach this goal, we had negotiations today. Our relation will go further with the advance of political will of leaders of two countries. We are ready for the cooperation on electricity, natural gas and energy issues. We have a common perspective in the fight against terrorism and extremism.  We likewise see the security of Turkey as our own security. We will never get far away from Turkish people.”

Following the statements, passed to the question and answer part. On the question of Turkish diplomat whom fled from Bangladesh allegedly, Çavuşoğlu replied:

“We called three officers back who served for the Turkish embassy of Bangladesh. Two of them fled to the US and one of them returned to Turkey. He has started working in our ministry. We invited them to appoint in the central. Totally we recall 208 diplomatic careers officers to appoint in the central. The number of not returned officers is 32 as unauthorized and unexcused. This claim has come to us as new. We will examine this in details too.”

On a question of a reporter, “There is a close relation between Turkey and Russia. Does Iran want to be a part of these mechanisms? ” Mr. Zarif answered, “The relation between our two significant neighbors has gotten better. It goes to regional cooperation. Iran had always positive dialogs with Turkey about Syria’s issue. All the sides should be in cooperation on the completion of the conflict of Syria and security and peace. We also are very happy for the started relation between Turkey and Russia.” said Mr. Zarif. (İLKHA)
