While the investigation of USA backed July 15, coup attempt continue, the decision of MGK for SOE was accepted in cabinet and now ratified in  the Parliament (TBMM).

Having passed the SOE bill from parliament, it reminds the unpleasant experiences of the previous SOE. Now people ask about what is the next step and how the SOE will affect the social and economic life.

The specified time for the SOE is 3 months and it is now discussed among society and nongovernmental organisations. Based on this HUDAPAR reviewed the SOE and shared their concerns.

At the beginning of the assessment that issued by HUDAPAR, it is clarified that the coup plotters should get severest punishment and added that: “a group that thought to be the members of Fethullah Gulen terrorist organisation made a coup attempt and immediately afterwards the president, the government, the political parties, media and altogether the heroic resistance of our people have parried it, thanks God. After that the government got through the decision of SOE for 3 months so as to remove all coup plotters. Of course as public we all wish to all the coup plotters get severest punishment they deserve.”

The declaration of State of emergency is upsetting

As a result of SOE, there will be unavoidably some practices which are not expected at usual time said and added that “as first thing to do after won the election in 2002, AKP removed the SOE at that time. At the all following election AKP used for its propaganda the act of removing the SOE. After 14 years passed declaration of the SOE is upsetting. As it is determined for 3 months but it was declared that it will be extended if it is needed. Many rights of freedom will be restricted and the practice of unusual time will be seen.”

“If the state of emergency (SOE) will be extended and the balance between security and freedom will be collapsed to the detriment of freedom, the government itself will face problems.”

In the review it was stated that every segment of society will be affected and “we see that a part of media is broadcasting and publishing as the SOE will enhance the freedom and justice. However, the SOE more or less will affect every segment of society. If SOE will be extended and the balance between security and freedom will be collapsed to the detriment of freedom, the government will face problems. Either in usual or in unusual time the important thing is to protect the justice, not to act with feelings and vindictive emotion but acting with good sense to secure the justice. As HUDAPAR we support the punishment for the coup plotters but we remind especially that we should let not hatred of any people seduce us that we deal not justly” said. (ILKHA)
