President Recep Tayyip Erdogan published a written statement in relation to the suicide attacks at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport and said “We expect that a resolute stance against terrorist organisations should be adopted by the world and especially Western countries with their parliament, media and non-governmental organisations.”

President Erdogan strongly condemned the attack at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport and sent his condolences to the families of those killed in the attack. He continued, “The attack which has taken place in the holy Ramadan month shows that terrorists target innocent civilians indiscriminatingly.”

“We expect a resolute stance against these terrorist organisations by the Western countries”

Once again this attack shows the dark face of terror that targets innocent civilians. This attack does not produce any results and it only aims to produce acts of propaganda against our country by shedding blood and causing pain. We expect that a resolute stance against terrorist organisations should be adopted by the world and especially Western countries with their parliament, media and non-governmental organisations.”

“Todays attack in Istanbul could have taken place anywhere around the world”

President Erdogan underlined that despite paying a heavy price, Turkey has the power, determination and capacity to continue the fight against terrorism until the end. He continued, “I must remind you all that todays attack targeted 79 million Turkish citizens as well as 7.5 billion human beings all around the world. Todays attack in Istanbul once again showed the treacherous face of terrorist organisations and this attack could have taken place anywhere around the world. We must all be clear without mistakes that there are no differences between Istanbul, London, Ankara Berlin, Izmir, Chicago, Antalya or Rome. Unless all government and the entire mankind join forces in the fight against terrorism, much worse things than what we fear to imagine today will come true."

President Erdogan concluded his statement by stating, “I hope that the Ataturk Airport attack, especially in Western countries and all over the world, will be a milestone for the joint fight against terrorist organisations, a turning point.”(ILKHA)
