Residents of Kuçe neighborhood want to live humanly
Residents in Kuçe neighborhood in Kayapınar district of Diyarbakır province said that they have been living there without having an address, even though they applied to municipality many times they didn't achieve any result.
Recently, coming to the fore with the news of cobbling paving stones over cobbled paving stones in the neighborhood, Kuçe neighborhood has come to the agenda with another problem.
Indicating that although they have been living in the neighborhood for years, they haven’t been registered to the central postal system, the residents said due to this problem, they are deprived of education and health services.
“Thousands of people have no official resident permit in Kuçe neighborhood”
Another problem has come up with the residents in Kuçe neighborhood that thousands of people living in the neighborhood have no resident permit. Speaking over that issue, community dwellers said that they were deprived of education and health services. Claiming that even the mukhtar-headman of the neighborhood- has no a resident registration, dwellers said to solve this problem they went to city hall; however they haven’t obtained any result so far.
“As we are poor, we aren’t treated like human”
Requesting to be registered to central address system, Halime Turan, one of the residents, voiced their grievances and asked to authorities to see them. Another resident that doesn’t want to be named said that as they are poor, they aren’t treated like human by public enterprises where they made applications many times.
Saying that for not having an official resident permit, they cannot send their children to the schools, Emine Üstündağ said that they face big problems to get social aid and with other formal procedures.
“We want benefit from health services, too”
Complaining that she even doesn’t know her address and door number, Amber Zaman said: “we want to get coal aid but we cannot. We want to send our children to the school but we cannot. We want to benefit from health services but we cannot. Therefore, we don’t have a formal address.”
“My children deprived of education and health services”
Saying that he has been living in the neighborhood for 2 years, Mehmet Bozdağ said: “we have strived a lot to obtain a formal address. To continue our children’s education life, we need address information. I consulted municipality. Nevertheless I couldn’t get any result. With the help of some of my relatives I achieved their school enrollment. But I was fined for 970 liras for presenting a false address. My wife applies for social aid but she also cannot get it. As you can see, we are in a difficult situation and no one helps us.”
“Most of the residents are jobless”
Bozdağ said: “I haven’t been able to get the aid from Social Welfare Center that I am supposed to get. We seek help from the competent authorities. Besides, we cannot benefit from health services. My children get ill but family physician doesn’t accept to examine them. Most of the residents here are jobless. And most of them do the donkeywork. And the rest earn a living with the aids from welfare institutions.” (ILKHA)
