Analysts and former officials acknowledge that Hamas achieved its primary objectives, including maintaining control over the Gaza Strip and thwarting Israeli attempts to gain a foothold in the territory.

Zvi Yehezkeli, an Arab affairs analyst for i24NEWS, emphasized that the challenge lies not in the prisoner release, but in the post-agreement reality. He stated that the deal effectively solidifies Hamas's control over Gaza, indicating a significant failure for Israel in achieving its objectives or altering the regional power dynamics.

Micha Kobi, a former Shin Bet official, described the agreement as "one of the worst deals Israel has ever made." He acknowledged that Israel was compelled to accept the terms due to its inability to protect its own citizens from Hamas and the mounting pressure to secure the release of abducted Israelis.

Kobi further highlighted the uncertainty surrounding the fate of the Israeli captives, emphasizing that Hamas is deliberately prolonging the process to maximize its leverage.

Kobi recognized Hamas's strategic maneuvering throughout the negotiations, noting that the movement skillfully prolonged the process, ultimately imposing its terms on Israel. He acknowledged Hamas's leadership, particularly that of Mohammad Sinwar, who emerged as the decisive figure in the negotiations.

Kobi acknowledged that Hamas's primary objectives were to ensure its survival and maintain its governance of the Gaza Strip. He conceded that Hamas has successfully achieved both these objectives.

Military affairs analyst Yossi Yehoshua raised concerns about the potential for increased instability in the West Bank, warning of a "particularly explosive" situation following the ceasefire agreement.

The Hamas movement hailed the ceasefire agreement as a significant victory for the Palestinian people, emphasizing the role of the "legendary resilience" of the Gazan population in achieving this outcome. The movement highlighted that the agreement represents a crucial step towards Palestinian liberation and the right of return for Palestinian refugees. (ILKHA)
