This meeting marks the first visit by a Mongolian president to Türkiye in 21 years, highlighting the intent to enhance historical and cultural connections for mutual benefit, according to Communications Director Fahrettin Altun's statement on Wednesday.

The agenda includes a review of the existing bilateral relations, exploration of new collaboration opportunities, and discussions on international and regional issues.

Diplomatic ties between the two nations trace back to June 24, 1969, with relations intensifying after the mutual establishment of embassies in Ulaanbaatar and Ankara in the late '90s. Over the years, more than 100 agreements have been signed, creating a robust legal foundation for cooperation across various sectors.

Türkiye's appreciation for its historical links with Mongolia is profound, especially given the cultural significance of the Orkhon Inscriptions, the oldest known Turkish monuments located in Mongolia. This meeting is expected to pave the way for further cultural exchanges and economic partnerships between the two countries. (ILKHA)
