Türkiye's budget deficit soars to 2.1 trillion liras in 2024
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance has released the latest budget balance figures, indicating that Türkiye concluded 2024 with a significant fiscal deficit.
In December 2024, the budget deficit stood at 829.2 billion liras, marking a substantial shortfall in government finances. The data also revealed a primary balance deficit of 835.7 billion liras for the entire year.
The primary balance, which excludes interest payments, showed a deficit of 753.9 billion liras for the month of December. These statistics highlight the growing fiscal strain on the government, underscoring the burden of borrowing and the significant impact of interest payments on Türkiye’s budget.
