Turkish dairy production sees growth in November
Türkiye's dairy industry demonstrated remarkable growth in November, as reported by the Turkish Statistical Institute.
Integrated dairies collected 896,257 tonnes of milk during the month, marking a significant 10.6% increase compared to November of the previous year. Over the January-November period, milk collection rose by 10.1% year-on-year, reflecting the sector's sustained upward trend.
Dairy product production also experienced notable gains. Cheese made from cow’s milk increased by 5.8%, while ayran, the yogurt-based traditional drink, saw a 6.5% rise. Yogurt production grew modestly by 1.6%, and drinking milk production edged up by 1.9%. The standout performer was butter production, which surged by an impressive 35.7%.
Looking at the cumulative figures for the January-November period, cheese production climbed by 6.2%, ayran production rose by 12.6%, and yogurt output increased by 6.8%. Drinking milk production recorded a 3.9% rise, and butter production grew significantly by 15.2%, underscoring the robust performance across all categories.
Despite these strong annual gains, November did see minor declines compared to October. The total amount of cow's milk collected fell by 2.7%, dropping from 921,231 tonnes in the previous month to 896,257 tonnes. Drinking milk production also dipped slightly by 1.0%, from 145,007 tonnes in October to 143,604 tonnes in November.
These figures highlight a thriving dairy sector in Türkiye, demonstrating consistent growth over the year while navigating minor month-to-month fluctuations. (ILKHA)
