The attack, carried out by an Israeli drone, struck the Bastra area south of Shebaa with an air-to-ground missile, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement on Saturday claiming that its air force had identified and attacked three "suspects" near the Israeli-annexed Shebaa Farms.

Lebanon's General Directorate of Civil Defense announced on Sunday that it had retrieved multiple bodies in various locations following recent violence. Rescuers recovered two bodies in the town of Khiam, remains of eight people in Naqoura, two bodies in Biyyadah, and one in Tayr Harfa.

A ceasefire agreement, brokered by the United States and France, went into effect on November 27, 2024, to end over 14 months of fighting between Israel and Hezbollah. However, tensions remain high, with both sides accusing each other of violating the fragile truce.

Despite the agreement, Israeli forces continue to conduct airstrikes in Lebanon, some resulting in casualties. Israel has justified these actions as responses to alleged ceasefire breaches by Hezbollah.

The ongoing violence underscores the volatility of the ceasefire and raises concerns about the potential for renewed conflict in the region. (ILKHA)
